social media made politics worse… i swear people will read one feminist text or a sociological text (actually they might read summaries of them) and just overuse the terms to mean just anything they want. good example is just constantly referring to the male gaze in film or photography analysis. using the language of abuse for failed incompatible friendships. using the term of emotional labour term to mean being nice to people around u. thinking social capital refers to just having tons of friends. it removes the onus from the power individuals hold, it actually strays away from any fundamental political changes. i mean reading takes time, analysis is always meant to be nuanced and actually kind of hard… and political activism is far more than having a twitter account.

ppl sometimes think im a guy on fb because my profile pic is ambiguous i guess and i use my initials instead of my birthname, and its usually fine but sometimes it leads to a random cis woman accusing me of “attacking a woman for talking about abortion” by saying that her comment about abortion coverage on an article about a man who campaigned to have his employer cover gender affirming surgery was derailing a celebration of trans rights
